Hacksaw Ridge

Mel Gibson’s first film as director since The Passion of the Christ in 2004, and Apocalypto in 2006. This completes a trilogy of religion-based films. Andrew Garfield is very good as Desmond Doss, a devout Seventh Day adventist, who describes himself as a “conscientious co-operator” after joining the US Army but refusing to handle a weapon.

Mostly memorable for its bloody and brutal battle scenes.
